Come join us for such events as the Pirate Pool Party, Halloween Pumpkin Picking Party and other city wide events and you’ll find yourself never wanting to leave! In 1682, the East Jersey legislature created Bergen County out of all the land in the peninsula between Hackensack and Hudson River, and by 1693, Bergen County had been divided into two townships, Bergen in the south and Hackensack in the north. In 1838, Jersey City had been created from Bergen Township as well as Hudson County, which was formed out of the southern portion of Bergen County in 1840. When North Bergen was incorporated in 1843, it was created out of the northern portion of Bergen. By 1862, Bergen Township had been dissolved and only New Bergen was left, created by what is now north of Jersey City.
